Todays thursday is "Weiberfastnacht", a carnivals day which is rarely known outside Ruhr Area.
At Weiberfastnacht or "Altweiber" (Old Hag's Day) masked women take over the town hall for the carnival prince and cut off every tie they find around a mans neck.

So take care if you come to Düsseldorf today with a tie, or wear your most disgusting one ;-)
